This book provides an in-depth study of the history of figurative art in China since the 1980s. It analyses the term 'New Figurative Art' and studies its development in the context of the social and historical changes underwent by the country. Moreover, a chapter is devoted to the development of figurative art in the West since the beginning of the 20th century to provide a larger picture of this art form.
