This is the catalogue for the exhibition ‘China- Aktuelles aus 15 Ateliers, Performances und Installationen’ held in Germany in 1996. Bringing together paintings, video art, photography and installation pieces of fifteen contemporary Chinese artists, the works presented in this catalogue bring forth the creative talent and working environment of these artists who were then seeking new paths within China. Contributions from both the Western and Chinese art critics, artists and scholars provide an insightful study of the development of contemporary China art. Introduction to the participating artists are also included.
