The purpose of organising this exhibition is two-fold: 1) to raise awareness of the economic potential and reputation of the Qixia region in Shandong province, which is especially famous of its apples, and the support it has given to the development of contemporary art in terms of organising an arts festival; 2) to show how experimental art can contribute to the lower strata of the society.

A number of internationally acclaimed artists participated in this exhibition, and transcripts of their interviews with the curators can be found in this catalogue. Artist biographies are included.
