Catalogue of the 3rd Dashanzi International Art Festival. With the theme of 'Beijing/Background', the festival aims to emphasize the urban dynamics and influence of Beijing as an extraordinary metropolis. For three weeks, from 29 April – 21 May 2006, curators and artists are invited to interpret the theme through projects in visual art, performance art, theatre, music and film. This catalogue gives a picture of the wide array of events featured in this year's festival, with preface by Huang Rui, brief description of each of the programmes and galleries/organisations/collectives.
