'New Generation Art' was a significant and influential phenomenon in the 1990s China art scene. The first section of this study offers a macroscopic analysis of the cultural context, artistic direction and characteristics of this phenomenon. The second part comprises case studies of over 10 representative artists of this movement. Biographies of these artists, their views on art, and a chronology of events related to the history and development of 'New Generation Art' are provided in the appendexes.
