This is the catalogue of a joint exhibition of 13 contemporary Chinese artists in Venice, Italy. A variety of styles are presented here, reflecting on the development of avant-garde paintings in the post 1989 China art scene. Essays by Julia Colman, Saverio Simi de Burgis and Li Xianting provide a historical and artistic background for the emergence and evolvement of avant-garde paintings in China from the 1980s to the end of the 20th Century.
