In his mid-80s Post-Classical series, Wang Guangyi was telling an art historian myth; in the late-80s Mao Zedong works he was telling the myth of a leader. In the 1990s he began to tell a myth about ordinary people living in a specific political and economic environment; this was the beginning of his Great Criticism series. From 2000 onwards, Wang has also started to experiment with installation art and sculpture. The present monograph provides an up-to-date sum up of Wang Guangyi's artistic development from the 1980s to the year 2002.
