Introduction:
In 2022, the Nanshan 138 project will take "Gaze" as its curatorial theme, and four artists, including Pan Zishen, Geng Xue, Jin Wenli, and Liu Yi, will be selected through open recruitment and expert evaluation. They will narrate the form of things and life archetypes under the humanistic viewpoints from different perspectives, and the perceptual tension of women's discourse will catalyze the subjective communication between the viewer and the viewed, and reach the artistic reconciliation between the hearts in the gaze. "Gaze" builds a two-way visual pathway between the artist, the work and the viewer. It advocates more women to pay attention to their own possibilities, focusing on the field of cultural production and giving contemporary issues a richer perspective and content.
The exhibition features Liu Yi's new series of works, including ink, acrylic, photography, and other graphic works, along with multi-screen videos and site-specific works. The artist explores the different relationships and emotions between people with the hedgehogs and balloons as the entry point. The exhibition breaks the boundary between the body and objects within an oriental female perspective through mixed virtual reality and artistic practices.
