Group Exhibition Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany
The exhibition Weird and Wonderful is held at Museum Folkwang in Essen, Germany from 8th April to 30th October, 2016. The exhibition presents six pieces “King” Series paintings of the Chinese artist Ouyang Chun and installations of Cuban artist Los Carpinteros and it brings very wonderful and intriguing conversation. Ouyang Chun uses an ornate but weird way to present his ideal “king” and his paraphrase of the real world. These paintings are dignified and highly expressive, accompanied with a kind of wonderful classic and deep contemporariness. The German collector Thomas Olbricht reassembling Cuban artist Los Carpinteros’ installations. Thomas Olbricht sets a unique background to present his various and beloved collections, which consist of natural, artificial, strange things and scientific apparatus. Contemporary and historical, elegant and sophisticated, bright and dark, honored and absurd, the interesting confrontation discusses the differences and efficiency of applied arts, liberal arts and fine arts, through traditional exhibition method in a museum.
