As a fore-runner of “New Wave” and “Political Pop”, and a key participant of the Shanghai Avant-garde movement, Mr. Yu Youhan is one of the first internationally recognized Contemporary Chinese artists. He has organized and been invited to important exhibitions such as the “Contemporary Paintings - Group of Six Exhibition” (1985), “First Shanghai Concave - Convex Exhibition” (1986), “89’ China/Avant-Garde Art Exhibition” (1989), “45th International Art Exhibition Venice Biennale” (1993), “Yu Youhan 1973 - 1988” at Long Museum (2016), “Yu Youhan Retrospective” at PSA Shanghai Contemporary Art Collection (2016) and so on.

This exhibition will include 18 works from his five major series “Early Shanghai Street Scenes”, “Ah! We”, “A Pocket Western Art History about Mao - 'Foreign Mao' Series”, “Yi Meng Shan Series”, “Abstract Series”, including 24 never-seen-before sketches and 11 photographic works. It is a concentrated and complete overview of the 40 years of Yu Youhan’s artistic career.
