The exhibition displays the works of undergraduates and graduates in Guangmei painting department.
The works on display are with abundant media, such as on-shelf, device, image, and photograph. They are in Happy shore, an open commercial environment and consumption space, which is a interesting correlation. They can be each other’s background and also the referenced object. How to view and interpret from muti-perspective is a question needing to be thought of.
Creation is the key point in art learning, even can be set as the final goal, which also provides the motivation for lasting art observation and thought of the students. From this point of view, experiment mind is very important to creation practice, because young artist learners are lacking in feelings. To feel in the experience, accept all possibilities and effects, accept failures are all important parts for art creation. You can go further with endurance. I hope positive feelings, trial and expression are not too late.
‘Encounter with art experiment’ is the third part of GAFA’s contemporary art teaching project. The first two parts ‘Transform—an experiment triggered by an object’ and ‘keep the experiment spirit’, were both an exploring of materials and an expanding of their thinking mode. Systematically and logically students should always experiment art not do experiment art. This should lead the young artists to transform their questions and experiences into a mature work, let them try to break traditions to think out of the box and express their feelings.
Another important thing in the creative process is to learn to be independent, the key to make the art work alive and unique. This teaching method will without any doubt benefit the growing young artists.
This time, ‘Encounter with art experiment’, includes more participants. As a final exhibition it shows how the teaching process to use different materials and thinking modes, has a positive influence on the students personal development. This is brave challenge and an innovative step for experimental art to infiltrate into commercial area.
