Beyond the Soil: An Exhibition of Art about Ecology aims to explore a deep connection between soil and ecology, to address interaction and dialogue between humans and the natural environment through the perspective ofcontemporary artists. The exhibition is divided into four sessions, covering the multiple dimensions of traditionand modernity, nature and technology, and culture and society, to provoke the public to be aware of the land, ecology, and the future of mankind profoundly.
In session 1, Ode to Soil - A Dialogue between Tradition and Nature, artists use traditional materials and techniques, combined with a deep understanding of nature, to create works that reflect soil and ecological
aesthetics. Session 2 of ‘Tapestry’ of Ecology - A Multi-Faceted Exploration of Contemporary Art displays contemporary art pieces inspired by soil and its ecology, with artists using organic materials such as Chinese herbs, wood, plant flowers, and leaves, combined with traditions and folk crafts of intangible cultural heritage, and to create diverse concept. Digital Fields - Integration of Technology and Ecology, as session 3, explores the application of digital media and information technology in the visual arts, where artists are inspired by the diversity of the soil, and use technology to extend the boundaries of artistic expression and communicate the current issues of environmentalism and ecological conservation. Session 4, Imprint of Land - the Interweaving of Social Scene and Art" focuses on the deep relationship between land and human society, presents some research-based projects and works of art, covering topics such as the Anthropocene, soil science, and rural construction. The exhibition calls on all sectors of society to pay attention to soil health, promote harmonious
coexistence between man and nature, and contribute to building a better home planet.
