Group Exhibition Don Gallery, Shanghai, No. 1863 Middle Huaihai Road
After nearly four years at our former Huaihai Lu location, Don Gallery has recently moved to the second floor of the Fuxing Lu Heritage Architecture building Blackstone Apartment. To celebrate the launching of our new space, Don Gallery is pleased to present a new group exhibition “We Are Here” on Saturday 12 November 2011.
“We Are Here” stages over ten artists who are active in the Chinese and international art world, including Cheng Yuyang, Han Feng, Huang Ling, Liu Ren, Lu Tianyang, Qu Fengguo, Michael Ryan, Su Chang, Lore Vaneslande, ZAKA, Zhang Yaxin, and Zhang Yunyao.
Cheng Yuyang brings an extra-large format color reverse piece from his latest “Reverse” series. As the third part of this series, it explores the montage of large format color reverse fragments for the very first time. As usual, Cheng places the being of photographic images between the realms of dream and reality, and gradually builds his own “matrix” aesthetic system. Su Chang and Liu Ren will present their new sculptures and works on canvas respectively. Also on view will include Michael Ryan's brand new installation piece and new works by ZAKA, who shows under his pseudonym. Zhang Yunyao's new project “The King and His Clown” has been selected to participate at Art Stage Singapore in January 2012, and parts of this project will be shown in this exhibition.
Besides the fresh art pieces we will be presenting, the Blackstone Apartment is charming piece of art itself. We look forward to seeing you there!
