In the video work "1.4 Billion", Lin Aojie asks "heartfelt" questions to more than ten entrepreneurs around him, trying to peek into their unknown inner world, in order to bring the "art circle" and "capital circle" closer together. Intertwining Cantonese dialogues that are full of life, Lin's video creation is characterised by a flexible approach between documentary and concept. The images shot with a mobile phone and the specially processed sound are reminiscent of his 2019 performance video "I Believe I Can", in which Lin submitted his portfolio to over a dozen galleries in the midst of harsh Beijing winter. The lonely back of a "migrant artist" resonates with the lonely soul of the "rich" at this moment.
