Firecracker paper, acrylic, glue and frame

Pu Jie has been collecting firecracker paper for several years. He made a catalogue of when, where and for what purpose these firecracker papers were used. He then blended firecracker paper and glue as to pile them up with acrylic in his composition. Firecracker has a long history in China. It can be seen through folk life as a symbol of joyful mood and wish for wealth. Taking a look at Pu Jie’s work, the sound of firecracker seems come close to the audience in stereo. It is a deep discussion about traditional Chinese culture as well as a reflection upon collective ecstasy of society in present.
