Star City-Material 1 is about the specific description of a heap of loose sands: the amount of sands is growing from right to left. The irregular shape in the work seems like a monster, with half of its head showed, stirring and blowing on the originally clean land. And finally the land is swallowed by the monster. Wang Youshen tries to describe his conceptualization world through sands. The monster is an image fabricated by Wang Youshen, and it’s a metaphor of the rapid sand desertification process. The serious topic is rooted in the artistic expressions, clever and full of insights.
