In order to understand the present Shanghai thoroughly, comprehensively and objectively, I have walked into 500 different families in Shanghai. The project started in January 2004 until February 2005. I have photographed and interviewed these 500 families, which includes foreigners and Shanghainese, from rich, middle-class to the impoverished.

With the use of sociology, to study and understand the living condition and environment of Shanghai families in the 21st Century. These photography documents would contribute to our history in time.
