Firstly, the individual metaphor. The depressed, imprisoned and hopeless psychological images are surrounded by layers and layers of thundering desire which could not be expelled. His works are trying to explore the absurd caused by helpless intense relationship between the outside and ourselves. The recognition of China's desperate reality and the infirmness and neuropathic expression to daily life are all filled in Chen Xiaoyun's works. Recently, his creation is transforming from the early fragmented poetic video allegory to more dimensions and high density narrative video works which focus on social reality.
