Postscript: About the Exhibition

As the discussion and think-over about “Ideal Community Architecture Standards”, i.e., the standard culture in China, in 2002-2003, the discussion on name of art will emphasize the openness of this activity. Firstly the activity is a thing that can be participated by all over the society. As the producer of the work itself, the art circle can enrich the way of art and the purpose of art by the method of this activity, so that the modern art will focus more on cultural and social process, especially on cultural phenomena in process.

Through the dialogue platform established by this activity, developers can discuss the status and concepts of real estate industry, discuss what kind of architect we may need, how we should lead the mass to choose architecture as their homes and public circumstance, what kind of life is rich, meaningful and stylish, and how the mass should support our society to well and consistently develop. By such platform, developers can interpret their concepts, raise their opinions and new ideas different to other developers and with their own cultural views together with intellectual circle. In the dialogue circumstance, we know that we can only raise our cultural point of view when talking on culture, and we can only raise our commercial point of view when talking on commerce. If reversed, that will be dumb. I think dumbness will be embarrassed. In order to avoid dumbness, we can only find a place with same dialogue circumstance. I think the city is combined by such different places. Especially for real estate industry, it is on the top of industries in China, and is a builder of city cultural hardware. But now it is an important stage for real estate industry, because after current narrow-sensed circumstance and unit pattern discussion, it is hard for us to find a new and attractive commercial trick to further develop the industry. At this moment, I think we need to return to the nature of architecture, to establish buildings belonging to China, with clear historical gap, with architectural intellectual rights, with cultural style, and respecting individual privacy. Therefore, the developer that raises the concept, will be one step in advance, and with a more chance to succeed.
