Commonly, a silk dress requires great process of producing: silk spinning; turning into cocoons, processed to be silk threads, silk fabric weaving, and tailoring fabric into ready-to-wear clothes. But the three-dimensional silk dress here is directly spun and created by silkworms, symbolizing a natural sculpture.
Silk thread, as a sewing material in daily life, is commonly seen in the pinhole of a sewing machine. However, reversely, in this work, the silk spun by silkworms wraps the sewing machine. The thread is thus a natural material conveying a kind of warmth that naturalizes and humanizes the industrial technology.
