Introduction:
This is the catalogue of the Chinese Exhibition at the 22nd Sao Paulo Biennial, in which 6 artists from Taiwan and 6 artists from Mainland China participated. In the article 'From Sao Paulo to Taipei', curator Chang Tsong-zung traced and compared the development of contemporary art in Mainland China and Taiwan, 'In general, it may be said that while Taiwanese artists show a preoccupation with the social nature of art vis-a-vis the individual, China's Pop artists, unwittingly or not, tend to evoke the broader spectrum of history.' The exhibition was an attempt to achieve a proper understanding of Taiwan's local culture through the study of art on both sides of the strait.
