The present publication brings together portraits, biographies and images of artworks of a hundred established artists from China. Gao Minglu, curator and art historian, gives a brief remark for each of the artists, in terms of style and in what ways these artists contribute to the development of contemporary Chinese art. With prefaces by Gao Minglu and Guo Yaxi in which they write about the methodology in studying contemporary Chinese art and the history of contemporary Chinese art since the late 1970s.
