Sembawang: The D. D. Land and Sembagraphie

Located in the northern terrain of Singapore, Sembawang is known for its natural landscape and rich historical and colonial narratives.

This exhibition double bill will assemble several exhibits that reflect Singapore’s unique heritage and geographical location as seen through the eyes of eminent local artist and teacher, Tang Da Wu.

Featuring symbolic installations, the first exhibition titled Sembawang: The D.D. Land documented the yesteryear of Sembawang as well as Da Wu’s representation of the myths and legends of this landscape.

Sembagraphie is the second exhibition that showcases Da Wu’s journal of Sembawang. 100 drawings will illustrate his personal experiences and observations of this unique landscape. Interactive dialogues, including an Art Students’ Seminar and workshops will also be held as part of this exhibition.

In 2017, a series of Art Teachers' Seminar was organised during Hak Tai's Bow, Brother's Pool and Our Children: Tang Da Wu exhibitions. In this year’s programme, the dialogue sessions will evolve into seminars for art students.

Workshops
There will also be a series of workshops by Tang Da Wu on how an artist works and thinks. Sessions are to be arranged upon request.
