Preface
Hysteria is an extremely out-of-control symptom caused by psychological reasons.Here we use"hysteria"to describe the art work of Chen Xiaoyun because on every fragment of these exciting but fruitless images and languages about struggling, fighting,depression,delusion,complaints,rejection,numbness,oppression,bullying and destroying,he tries to impose extreme senses and wills to confront with the hysteria in real life that he has experienced.
In the eyes of the artist,the reality is an opponent instead of a template.While confronting with the disorder of reality with the disorder of his art work,he clears up the hysteria in real life with the hysteria of images.He feeds you a toad to prevent you from more disgusting encounters.According to psychological analysis,hysteria derives from a psychological defense mechanism.Just like a protective screen,the hysteria prevents the mind from going crazy by losing control of emotion and body.
The hysteria in the art work of Chen Xiaoyun always expresses as the convulsion on the dimension of metaphor and metonymy by turning the losing control of emotion and body into the spasm of images and language.By using metaphor and metonymy,he makes the symbolism order in real life collapse and forces the relationship between matter and meaning to regenerate from such distortion.He chopped all branch of life jungle simply for more scars.
