The 32nd Punch continues Huang Kui’s consistent creative vein. The painting depicts a figure throwing punches, with every blow landing on the figure’s own face. As layers of paint accumulate, the canvas grows thicker. The figure, initially distinct, gradually blurs, distorts and turns abstract amid the thick paint layers. The work freezes the moment when the thirty-second punch is thrown.
