In Wu Yiming’s New Ink Series, we can hardly find the artist’s concern about the society or history, nor his representation of these matters. His artistic practice enters into a more individual phase, resembling the literati’s life of artistry in their leisure time. Wu Yiming depicts some orchid flowers, a corner of lotus pond, a pair of swans paddling, a car in the clearing, neon lights spectrum… He even uses calligraphy to write buzzwords and catchphrases. Painting is naturally integrated into the artist’s everyday life.
