The photographic series, “Motion Analysis”, was taken in Chiang Mai. I am interested in the relationship between classical and secular/ common customs. Each of these photos has a gesture of a famous sculpture in art history. These gestures are considered to be classics, dramatic, perfect, and romantic templates. However, in our daily lives, we rarely see these gestures. So I began to imagine how to place a Western classic gesture into the everyday environment of Southeast Asia.
I arranged stories in different scenarios and imagine the reasons why people can make these gestures in that setting. In the end, these pictures retain their day-to-day nature, but some of them are very dramatic.
