‘Mekong, a Quiet Phantom’ depicts the same hotel as in ‘Forever Dawn’ and ‘Mekong Mirage’. The view through the window frames echoes the other pieces in the exhibition as well as the cinematic frame. Apichatpong creates a disorienting view of the mundane by turning the image upside down, a contemplation of alternative architectural or even ecological possibilities.
