The work showcases the artist’s understanding of the “gestures” of river movement. In the moments when riverbeds, islets, streams, and slopes are submerged or exposed, the postures of both people and objects extend and form attitudes through multiple replacements, analogies, and transpositions. Su Chang creates his work using his body; while casting an entire riverbed, he utilizes the gravity and shape of his body to alter the plaster, capturing both the wet and dry forms. The final traces left behind are not merely shallow surface imprints but carry deeper significance.
