The work echoes the Qiang myth “Ran Bi Wa Steals Fire,” where the female leader and the son of a celestial deity steal fire and hide a stone to save their tribe from the harsh cold. The artist constructs a 2-meter spiral totem as a sacred space using fossils from his hometown. Within this space, the "Magic Staff" resonates with the wisdom of fire concealed in the myth. When viewers insert the staff into the stone base at the center of the spiral, an LED breathing flame ignites at the top, resembling the awakening of ancient primal fire. By holding this light staff for a photograph, participants transform into modern "fire bearers."
By scanning through their mobile app, viewers can take this “spark🔥” with them, allowing for its transmission. At this moment, the energy of civilization transcends the boundaries between the stone’s material core and digital encoding—natural material energy is homologous to technological information encoding, validating the perpetual genes of civilization symbols through the iteration of carriers.
