The painting of 'New West Lake' reflects the geographical dimensionsof the entire world, including cultural landscape, geopolitical contradictions, natural ecology, discourse games, and futuredevelopment. Jing Shijian started multiple art practice projects such as"Art Geography", "Strolling in the Jianghu", and "River and Lake Boating"around 2000, from Hangzhou and Shanghai to Beijing, and then to domestic and foreign cities such as Germany and South Korea. As acreative journey back to the place where art takes place, art researchwas conducted with the clue of "New West Lake" as the social andhumanistic background. From 2010 to 2015, a series of daily practiceclasses were conducted, and in 2024, it returned to "small, medium, andlarge", returning to the essential connection between people and the world, and constructing new perceptions and understandings.
