An iteration of Immortal Words (2024), this work continues Boedi Widjaja’s inquiry into language, materiality, and transmission. A four-line poem by the artist is encoded in DNA and sculpted at the nanoscale into Line, Circle, and Cube forms. Sprayed onto special paper, each sheet bears about ten trillion DNA nanosculptures; the same material is also compressed into aerosol cans, transforming poetry and history into substance for diffusion.
Since its first iteration, Immortal Words has adopted retail modes of dispensation — through gachapon capsules and, in this version, aerosol cans — to invite interaction and curiosity. Each act of exchange furthers the poem’s transmission, spreading its encoded language and history through human contact.
