In this piece of the series one sees an illustration of the passive power within the market. Though still inactive, ZHANG has made this hand to seem as if it is stamping the implied sheet of paper; providing a seal of approval. The sheet is blank, but ZHANG does not think it important what is on the document. Much more important is the role of the hand passively approving the contracts and regulations in contemporary society. We are reminded of the robotic nature of power; stamping sheet after sheet with no intent of improvement. It is such passively approved contracts and regulations that we then passively follow as consumers. There is no individual here, only masses controlled by the power of stamps and material items.
