Moon Garden consists of four parts: curvy acrylic sheets, silk-covered daggers and mirrors, a circular piece of silk and a video.
The beautiful curve, serenely standing in the sand, resembles the ancient stele depicting the mysterious Mesopotamia. Cloud-like shadow spread all over the walls and ground while the watery light pouring.
The daggers and broken mirrors, hidden behind the stele and flickering, symbolize the danger, violence and chaos in the real world. However, all these have been lessened by silk with its softness and purity. Silkworms left their silk before they die, which renders the silk regarded as a continuation of life or rebirth. Over and over again, those sharp and threatening weapons have been converted and comforted by the gentle but powerful silk.
The circular piece of silk, in an obvious way, illustrated the moon. The thousands of silkworms, in the video, spin tirelessly on the metal and mirrors with their own tempos and rhymes. They, altogether, build up their homeland and civilization on their pilgrimage to the universe with the moon’s directing. On their way, they write the Arabic word of “serenity” on the stele.
