GOLD CAN MOVE THE GOD was presented for the first time for Zhang Ding’s solo exhibition Gold & Silver at the Galerie Krinzinger in Vienna as his conceptual art of slogan type in 2013. Wether the slogan is daubed graffiti on concrete walls related to politically isolation, or hand embroidered on luxurious tablecloth, wether we can read it as English slogan, or Chinese proverbs, the work is based on themes such as power, ideologies and systematic control and political practice. The artist uses the metaphor of gold as precious commodities to create a bridge enabling him to critically explore the superordinate system of capitalism. In the guise of works made of precious material it found itself situated between communist ideology and rising economic power, then it became the core concept for the series of live projects related to hiphop music under Zhang Ding’s art label CON TROL CLUB, which focuses on the social practice of tapping into the field of contemporary youth culture.
