"Undisclosed Territory" is an annual performance art event which was held for the first time in March 2007 at the Padepokan Lemah Putih Solo, Indonesia.
This event is promoted to introduce and present performance art works by Indonesian and International performance artists.
The first “Undisclosed Territory” 2007 included works of 13 international and 12 Indonesian performance artists. All the international artists were participant artists at the “15th Performance Art Conference” which was held in Bali and was organized by ASA European and Padepokan Lemah Putih Solo. During the “Undisclosed Territory” 2007, a lecture held by Boris Nieslony (Germany), artists talk and video screening of performance documentation and short and long duration performances were included in the program. The three days full time program from 24th – 26th of March 2007, has attracted hundreds of local public and visitors from other cities. A group of students from ISI Jogjakarta dance department has intensively joined and stayed for the whole 3 days.
“Undisclosed Territory # 2” was the second Bali – Java connected project, which was based on the curatorial concept by Boris Nieslony. 16 artists from worldwide and 11 artists from Indonesia were participating at our four days full time scheduled program. We also had four interesting lectures held by Jürgen Fritz (Black Market International), Tran Luong (Doing Something else – Performane Art in Vietnam), Christine Biehler (Sculpture and/as an Action) and SS. Atieq Listyowati (Performance art in Indonesia).
From 10th to 13th of April 2008, Undisclosed Territory#2 has attracted immense number of public who are not only from the local art scene, but visitors came from other towns and especially our neighborhood from the village around the area of Padepokan Lemah Putih.
“undisclosed territory # 3” was the third Bali – Java connected project, which was scheduled on the 3 rd and 4th of April 2009. “undisclosed territory # 3” included artists presentations, video screening of participating artists previous works, artists talks and performances. 15 artists from Germany, Switzerland, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Sweden and Indonesia were participating.
“undisclosed territory#4” will be scheduled on the 2nd to 4th of April 2010, and will present the Black Market “International” and other international artists from Taiwan, China, Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia (Asia). To invite the Black Market International artists, we have been collaborating with the Future of Imagination 6, festival of performance art in Singapore.
Padepokan Lemah Putih is a non profit organization founded by Suprapto Suryodarmo in 1986. We have organized many local, national and international festivals and meetings and have been supporting cross-cultural collaborations and exchanges through variety of artistic disciplines. The Padepokan Lemah Putih will be the host institution which supports the projects as part of their cultural program.
