Foresight is a series of works that Jiang Pengyi has produced through repeated experiments, elaboration, destruction and replacement since 2014. During the time the artist has persistently questioned and explored materials, methods and expressions in photography, with the significant concept "demeditation" driving his art. Trying to get rid of external limitations including cameras, lenses and shooting techniques, as well as subjective identity as an artist or photographer (producer), he retains only negatives, objects, time, and extremely limited, uncertain human intervention. In this work, the artist uses the liquid of bean sprouts, the rotten soup to react with the silver halide on the film and leave an image. Then he used a series of classic photographic development procedures to fix, scan and develop negatives. After repeated experiments, he achieved the effects of the works in the exhibition. He put the negatives in a sealed box, sprayed water, kept it warm, constantly observed, recorded the results of the changes with a table, and then tried to tilt the box to let the liquid of the rotten sprouts slowly slide, thus forming the texture on the film.
