First shown in Thailand in 2022, ‘Signs and Illusions’ belongs to the project of ‘A Minor History Part Two’. It depicts the back of a sign in front of a roadside factory that manufactures insignias for government buildings. The white spots on top of the image are scans of punch holes from his film, ‘Memoria’, which are used to mark the start and end of a film roll. The scene, according to the artist, represents the endless cycles of destruction and desire at the heart of the nation.
