1965-Father and Mother in Yu Garden
Right before the Cultural Revolution, my father’s company was moving to a rural area. But he kept putting the plan off, as my mother did not want her children to leave Shanghai. During that time, the education in Shanghai was comparatively better than that in other places of China. She could not see us live in the rural places without receiving proper education, especially I was going to the primary school in the following year. Without my mother, my father certainly did not want to go either. Therefore, he did not go to the re-located company until the middle age of the Cultural Revolution. At the beginning of the revolution, strikes happened to be everywhere. Nothing was in order. This is a photo taken at the Yu Garden before my father left Shanghai.
