ShanghART Gallery will present a special summer exhibition, "End of Heat", on 2 September 2022. This exhibition will be organised in three chapters, "Flare, Trace, Walking", and will showcase the work of over ten artists, covering photography, painting, installation, sculpture and video. The exhibition starts from the creation itself - sorts the artists' approaches to the materials, and explores their artistic conceptions.
"Flare" is the limit of light, the most intense expression of light. In this chapter, the exhibition will present the works of three photographic artists: Jiang Pengyi, "painting with light through photography"; Chen Wei, "using light as a medium for atmospheric rendering"; and Liu Yue, "using light as a medium for visual perception, and thus for extreme exploration". Through the presentation of the three artists' works, the audience will be able to understand their different interpretations of "light" and its use in their creations.
"Traces" will present paintings and sculptures, which will take away the artists' creative expressions in terms of content and instead focus on the artists' use of materials, their handling of brushes and traces of images, either in a quiet and distant manner or in a flowing atmosphere.
If "Flare" and "Traces" are non-narrative expressions of the artist's creative work, "Walking" is different from the previous two sections - will present the narrative expression of the artist as they build their artistic world. This chapter will focus on painting, animation, video and installation, using a single work as a slice: a corner in a painting, a fantastic journey in animation, a bizarre installation, a silent image...... to show the audience how the artist constructs the narrative text of art.
