The three-dimensional extra-wide view animation “Misfortune” is the first large-scale creation by Li Shan using new media types to illustrate his concept of “bio-art”. Within the 20 meter-long projection screen, accompanied by melodious sacred music and songs, a lonely “Dragonfly-man” flies back and forth, presenting a probable image of a future life form. According to Li Shan’s biological perspective and artistic intent, the creature is irrelevant to the media presentation and is not an embodiment of cultural and historical significance. If we say there is an implication, then the creature itself is an implication; the “dragonfly-man” is a work of art and a fresh life. It is neither the crooked text in the eyes of philosophers nor the vague imagery in artists’ minds. The “he/it/He” that the artist created is in fact a living creature, one with flesh and blood and is beautiful and healthy!
