In the empty and dark exhibition hall R106, the light focuses on a Holy Bible with a cross (“+”) on the front. Li Shan transformed the standard Holy Bible he purchased from the church and added to the cover the images for his own works and the title of “Li Shan’s Bio-Art Laboratory”. Since the beginning of history, the Bible has always been connected with “creationism” and the so-called crown of creation, or human, while all other organisms are attributed to the category of “evolutionism” for observation and discussion. The Li Shan version of the Bible “+” concisely and forcefully eliminated the opposition and division between “creationism” and “evolutionism” and described the artist’s thinking and perspective of “all lives being equal and the same”.
