The forty light box images were created by Li Shan from 1996 to 2003, using image restructuring, to illustrate the concept that characteristics of living things can produce different phenotypes by transforming, substituting, or mixing genetic information. God created men in His image. Li Shan extended this spirit to all species, such as frogs, mantis, or bees. Substituting or pasting the genetic codes from his own mRNA, he has virtually created various creatures possessing human lips, skin, organ tissues, and other feature.
